It is unclear how much money the four employees allegedly stole, the The Boston Globe reported.
Four workers at Logan Express sites face charges for allegedly stealing bus ticket revenues, the Massachusetts Port Authority said in a statement to The Boston Globe on Tuesday.
The identities of the workers, along with the amount of alleged money stolen, was not shared. All four suspects were employed by ABM Industry Groups, a facility solutions firm hired by Massport to oversee revenue collection at specific Logan Express stops, the Globe reported.
According to the Massport statement, three suspects worked at the Braintree location while the other worked at the Framingham location.
Logan Express, operated by Massport, is a bus service that runs directly from terminals in Back Bay, Braintree, Danvers, Framingham, and Woburn to Boston Logan International Airport.
Massport CEO Rich Davey told the Globe they were no longer working with ABM. Instead, Davey said a new operator will manage revenue and “assure a smooth transition” for customers.
“At Massport, we demand honesty and the highest level of service from our contractors, and I am deeply disappointed by the failures of ABM at our Braintree and Framingham Logan Express sites,” Davey said in a statement to the Globe.
Massport told the Globe they received a tip earlier in the year reporting possible revenue theft. Then, an internal investigation found three employees at the Braintree site who allegedly stole cash intended to pay for bus tickets, the Globe reported. A later investigation in June, Massport said, found one other employee at the Framingham location allegedly participated in the scam.
In the statement, Massport said they have hired audit firm Deloitte to conduct an investigation into the alleged scheme.
ABM did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
